Termination

If I ever had questions regarding counseling, the experience of witnessing a long-term therapy client's realistic clarity and her 'processing' her experiences within the session on her own with a much larger perspective and calmness has been an answer. Her anxiety was off the roof and all the processing would happen only alone. Termination is round the corner. Her confidence is leveled with her vulnerability and she seems empowered and confident enough to be able to handle any such episodes again with a much better efficiency. It's faith, that has finally entered in her perceptive world that changes a lot of things, and what's beautiful, is how naturally it's come about.

:-)
I'm happy too.

Self Acceptance

Its been amazing experience to see and understand how "Self-Acceptance" is key. It is so much more in 'reality' and boy how it helps heal and fosters growth! The enormity of this hit me, looking at the spectrum and magnitude of whom and how it helps.. from existential stress to serious drug de-addiction..

In embracing our shadows, underneath each layer 'every day', lies our key.

Play

An unusually open environment with play, creativity, colour, can bring out our child-like emotions, without any masks.. A very helpful tool when dealing with 30 plus adult clients who are not artists..

Insecurity: Insight from a case

"Without faith, insecurity breeds. With Insecurity, expecting a constant change loops. And with all this, there's no ability to love or receive love. With Faith on the other hand, there's no being better or worse, one can only just be, Oneself and leave all concerns at rest."

Saw this unfold in reality today.. will write up more about this soon...

An experiment

I'm trying to put in practice the notion of love and acceptance along with being firm around basic and already explained rules on a very sweet, helpful, intelligent kid, who's problems seem to be lack of faith and fear of authority figures, which comes out in his faulty evaluation of situations.. and him feeling hurt and defiant in his behaviour. I hope this approach works. He's a great kid! And this seems to be the only thing bringing him down. If you have suggestions, pls share.

On career indecision

Dreams cannot be realised under a mushroom of fear and pressure. No matter the rat-race, social scale 'competition' or pressure of future security.. the simple rule remains. It doesnt work as per our convenience or inconvenience. The rule being- a calm mind helps put things in perspective and a little openness is needed to take us towards the answers embedded deep within us.

What is Spreading Literacy???

Is it teaching them ABC? Is it teaching them English? What is it? And how does one go about doing that when in reality there may not always be a conducive classroom setting, and parents literate enough to understand unconventional ways of teaching?

And what about those who have grown older, are illiterate, but still have a desire to learn deep down, which openly they’d refuse, as they know how difficult it is to cope up, seeing the whole journey as an audience from ABC to chemistry equations.. An audience I call them, as they travel what presumably must be irritating, boring, and too much work because all they seem to be doing, is mug up.

There are kids, believe it or not, who are in their 9th and 10th in eng medium school but have no clue what “A” sounds like, and how to read a single sentence in English and make sense out of it. Thanks to which, no matter how strong their grasping power and intelligence must be, it remains untapped to its full potential- either they get bored, or overwhelmed.. among other things.

What’s the solution?

So far, I guess it’s giving up of this silly pressure of teaching them to pass- for teachers that is. The teachers too have deadline and credibility and statistical improvement pressures. And the schools have their own.

So who is going to stand up regardless of being judged and under pressure and do the right thing, and whether 1st std or 12th, actually teach and inculcate a want and a desire to learn, understand and study?

An appeal- to one and all- as all are teachers and students in life, of life-- take that stand, and make a difference, whenever, wherever you can.. whenever you see some one your heart responds to, as only if this one had this and that one had that, just go ahead :-)
Its probably going to be worth it. Ask that person, that kid. You’ll get the truth, rather than listening to my or anyone else’s presumptions or theoretical predictions and forecasts.

:-) give!
